MOTÖRHEAD's CAMPBELL To Be Replaced By Ex-DANZIG Axeman
May 6, 2003On May 2, the MOTÖRHEAD family received some tragic news: Guitarist Philip Campbell's mother passed away. Embroiled in the middle of a U.S. tour, MOTÖRHEAD suddenly found themselves without Philip's considerable talents for two shows.
In an effort to make sure that the fans are not disappointed with show cancellations, MOTÖRHEAD contacted Todd Schofield. Todd has played with veteran metal act DANZIG in the past and has been a friend of the band for some time. Thrilled at the prospect of joining MOTÖRHEAD on stage, Todd immediately agreed to fill in while Philip returns to England to take care of family matters.
"It is very sad that this tragedy happened and I am very happy that I could be there to step in and help the band that has meant so much to me," Todd stated.
Todd will play guitar for MOTÖRHEAD at the following shows (both featuring ANTHRAX in the opening slot):
May 7 - Norfolk, VA - The Norva
May 9 - Worcester, MA - The Palladium
Philip Campbell will be back in the saddle for the rest of the tour starting with the May 10 show at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
